For many Nigerian graduates, receiving an NYSC call-up letter marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter. But before you head to the orientation camp, proper preparation can make all the difference between a stressful experience and a smooth one. 

The last thing you want is to arrive at NYSC camp only to realize you've forgotten an important document or essential item. This ultimate preparation checklist ensures you have everything you need for a smooth, stress-free start to your service year.  

1. Print All Required NYSC Documents 

Before leaving for camp, ensure you have multiple copies of these important documents: 

  • NYSC Call-Up Letter 

  • Green Card 

  • Final Year Student ID Card  

  • School Statement of Result or Degree Certificate 

  • Valid Means of Identification (National ID) 

  • Passport Photographs (at least 8–12 copies) 

Keep both physical and digital copies in case of emergencies. 

 

2. Get a Medical Fitness Certificate 

Every prospective corps member is expected to present a medical fitness certificate from a government or accredited hospital. 

The certificate confirms that you are medically fit to participate in camp activities and helps camp officials provide appropriate care if needed. Obtain this a few weeks before camp to avoid last-minute delays. 

 

3. Pack the Right Clothing 

Camp lasts for about three weeks, so comfort is important. 

  • White shorts 

  • White round-neck T-shirts 

  • White canvas shoes
