FG Declares Friday Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid Celebration

The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday in commemoration of Eid-ul-Mawlid, which marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The announcement was made in Abuja by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government. He congratulated Muslims both in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion, urging them to reflect on the Prophet’s life and emulate his virtues of love, humility, peace, and sacrifice.

Tunji-Ojo also called on Nigerians to use the celebration as an opportunity to pray for the peace, unity, and prosperity of the country. He further encouraged citizens to demonstrate tolerance, forgiveness, and compassion in their daily lives, noting that these values are essential for building a stronger, more united nation.

The Minister extended the government’s best wishes to the Muslim Ummah and the entire nation, wishing everyone a joyous and peaceful celebration.

Eid-ul-Mawlid is observed by Muslims globally to honor the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), whose teachings continue to inspire millions around the world.
