Nigerian actress and faith advocate Juliana Olayode, popularly known as Toyo Baby from the Jenifa’s Diary series, has revealed how a seemingly harmless online encounter nearly led her to being initiated into witchcraft.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Olayode recounted watching a film on YouTube when a strange advertisement interrupted her viewing. The ad asked probing questions like, “Have you ever broken a bone?” and prompted users to click a link.
“Out of curiosity, I clicked on the link and what I saw I was like, oh my God, what am I doing here?” she said. “I realised that the enemy is so subtle, and this is how people get initiated into witchcraft and all sorts of things.”
She described feeling an unsettling spiritual presence immediately after clicking the link, which led her to question the nature of some online content and its hidden spiritual agenda.
“Witchcraft is everywhere,” Olayode said. “And it often disguises itself as curiosity, enlightenment or fun.”
The actress cautioned against content that promotes ideas of past lives or hidden truths, warning that they often prey on the spiritual unrest in people’s minds. She emphasized that many people unknowingly give spiritual access to negative forces through their digital habits—what they watch, listen to, or even the places they visit.
“There is this unrest in the minds of men. The devil is so strategic,” she added, encouraging her followers to stay vigilant and spiritually discerning in the content they consume.
In her Instagram caption, Olayode described witchcraft as no longer hiding in the shadows, warning that it can appear attractive, insightful, or even beneficial. “They’re not waiting for midnight to fly… Witchcraft is everywhere around us,” she wrote.
She cautioned against accepting spiritual guidance from unverified sources, drawing reference to Acts 16:16–18 in the Bible, where a girl possessed by a spirit accurately told fortunes yet was rebuked by Apostle Paul.
“You don’t have to click the link to be initiated,” she said. “It probably happened through the movie they watched, the music they listened to, a novel they read, or a witch store they followed their friends to.”
Olayode described possible signs of spiritual intrusion—nightmares, anxiety, fear, strange voices or sensations—and warned against supposed remedies like incense burning, saying they could deepen the spiritual trap.
“Some of these things happen because you unconsciously gave these spirits access to your life. You have to guard your gates, the gates to your soul.”
She concluded by encouraging spiritual awareness and affirming her faith: “The only way to God is through Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God. If you want to experience God, go through Jesus Christ.”
