Nollywood star Toyin Abraham has finally broken her silence about the breakdown of her former marriage to actor Adeniyi Johnson, offering rare insights into what went wrong and how she moved on to a more fulfilling chapter in her life.
During a recent sit-down with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the actress revealed that her marriage to Johnson, which lasted about two years, had been rocky from the start and her family had sensed it early on.
“My family actually had concerns about the relationship,” she said. “But I went ahead with the marriage anyway.”
While she didn’t go into the full details of what caused the collapse, her tone suggested a relationship built on shaky ground. However, it was the pivot to her present life that showed how far she’s come.
Abraham, now married to actor Kolawole Ajeyemi, described her current relationship as one built on love, faith, shared experiences, and “unwavering support.”
“In real life, he is very calm, he is a prayer warrior. Whenever I go to Abeokuta, he is always there,” she said. “So we started getting close, and then started dating. I did not want anybody to know at the time, but I started getting fond of him.”
She recalled how they spent more time together, tagged along on work trips, and eventually introduced each other to their families.
“As time went on, I no longer cared what people had to say. I took him to my parents, he took me to his. We had a little introduction, then I got pregnant and then marriage followed.”
Toyin emphasized how her family’s Christian faith played a role in confirming her relationship with Kolawole.
“My family prayed about it and God revealed he was my husband.”
Now blessed with two children, a boy and a girl, Toyin says she’s living in peace and gratitude.
“Trust me, I married one of the best. I won’t say the best because there are other marriages I look up to, like my godmother’s. But my husband is one of the best.”
Her candid reflection not only highlights the journey from pain to peace but also underscores the importance of listening to intuition, family wisdom, and building love on the right foundation.
