The Dangote Group has denied reports linking its trucks to two fatal accidents that occurred in Enugu State on Wednesday, leaving ten people dead.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the company’s spokesperson, Anthony Chijiena, Dangote clarified that the vehicles involved in the crashes did not belong to the company or any of its subsidiaries. The firm’s position was further corroborated by the Enugu State Police Command, which confirmed that the trucks belonged to two logistics firms — Visco Investment Global and Global Investment.
Dangote expressed deep sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives, stating: “We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the victims of these tragic incidents and their families.”
The company also raised concerns over the growing trend of misinformation that falsely associates its brand with road accidents. It urged both the public and media outlets to fact-check and verify details before publishing or sharing such claims.
Additionally, Dangote reiterated that it has consistently cautioned independent truckers against illegally using its logo on vehicles, noting that such practices contribute to public confusion. The firm vowed to step up monitoring efforts and pursue legal action against those unlawfully using its brand identity.
Dangote reaffirmed its commitment to road safety, stressing that it takes the issue seriously and will continue to enforce measures aimed at ensuring accountability across its logistics chain.
