The Nigerian film industry has been plunged into grief following the death of Shina, the only child of veteran actress Peju Ogunmola.

Reports confirm that the heartbreaking incident occurred on Tuesday while Ogunmola was on a movie set. Shina, who was just 24 years old, had only recently completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, marking the start of what many believed would be a promising future.

The news of his passing was first shared in a Facebook post by filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi on Tuesday night. In his post, Oloketuyi wrote: “Peju Ogunmola loses a 24-year-old son. Her only child. Please, remember her in prayers.”

Tributes have since begun pouring in from fans and colleagues within the Nollywood community, who have expressed shock and deep sorrow over the untimely loss.

For Ogunmola, who has enjoyed a decades-long career in Nollywood and remains a respected figure in the Yoruba movie industry, the loss of her only child is an especially devastating tragedy.
