On November 18, 2025, suspected bandits launched a violent attack on a parish of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, a boundary town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. The attack occurred around 6:00 pm and caused panic among worshippers attending an evening service.

The Kwara State Police Command confirmed that a male worshipper, Mr. Aderemi, was fatally shot inside the church during the attack. Another victim, Mr. Tunde Asaba Ajayi, was found dead in the nearby bush. A local vigilante, Segun Alaja, sustained gunshot injuries while confronting the assailants and was rushed to ECWA Hospital in Eruku for treatment.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, released a statement detailing the incident and police response. According to the statement, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Eruku and his team, working alongside vigilantes, promptly responded to the gunfire, forcing the attackers to flee into the bush.

Police Commissioner Adekimi Ojo commended the swift and coordinated response of security forces and vigilantes. He reassured the public that security agencies remain committed to eradicating such hoodlums and restoring peace to the affected communities.

This attack has further heightened fears among residents in Eruku and surrounding areas, who have experienced multiple violent incidents in recent weeks. Authorities are intensifying efforts to track down the perpetrators and prevent future attacks amid growing concerns over security in Kwara State.
