A Lagos magistrate court has ordered DNA tests to be carried out on Liam Aloba, the two-year-old son of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, following an application by the artiste’s father.

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has ruled that DNA tests be conducted on Liam Aloba, the two-year-old son of late Nigerian artiste Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The decision came on Tuesday after Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga delivered judgment on an application filed by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba.

Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, was listed as the respondent in the suit. During the hearing, Joseph Aloba’s counsel, Augustine Adegbemi, moved the motion, while Omowunmi’s lawyer, Kabir Akingbolu, did not object.

Magistrate Sonuga subsequently ordered that two DNA tests be conducted: one within Nigeria and another outside the country. The ruling specified that both tests must be carried out in accredited and recognized hospitals, with representatives from both parties present during the collection of samples to ensure transparency.

The case has been adjourned to November 11 for further proceedings.

This ruling follows months of public debate, speculation, and online controversy surrounding the paternity of Mohbad’s son, which has remained one of the most sensitive topics since the singer’s untimely death in September 2023.
